The Salvation Army held their first ever "Beyond the Bells" luncheon at Embassy Suites. The event was used to bring awareness to the mission of the local Salvation Army and give the community a chance to give of their time, talents and donations to the organization.

Over 300 people attended the event, held Thursday. Captain Monica Seiler immediately after the luncheon reported their donation goal of 50-thousand dollars raised is well within reach.

The group recognized Bonnie and Debbie Price from Project 14, who served as honorary chairs of the event. Also, the Cristy-Houston Foundation was this year's community award recipient. The organization gave the Salvation Army the seed money in the late 90's to build the Center of Hope on Salem Highway and have continually worked to give back to the Salvation Army.

NewsRadio WGNS' Bryan Barrett served as master of ceremonies for the event.
