Saturday and Sunday Were Great Days for Boating on Percy Priest Lake

Memorial Day holiday weekend is regarded as the unofficial start to the summer boating season. Annually, the Memorial Day weekend is one of the year’s busiest boating weekends. Last year over the holiday weekend, there were no boating fatalities for the second consecutive year. There were six reported accidents, two of which resulted in injuries.

We are told that the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency was out in full force this past weekend. WGNS took several pictures of Percy Priest Lake on Sunday and from what we observed, it was not as busy as it has been in previous years.

As far as telling our audience how many B.U.I. arrests were made, we will not have a number until Tuesday. We can however say that we have not seen any charges for boating while under the influence among those booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

Most Recent Numbers Released for B.U.I Accidents is from 2011:

TWRA officers made 22 boating under the influence (BUI) arrests over the weekend, an increase of nine from 2011. Officers also issued 12 reckless/negligent operation citations.

2012 Statistics were not released.
