Another Saturday morning, but those who travel through the historic Murfreesboro square may be surprised to discover every parking place is filled and there are throngs of people walking around talking to each other, getting farm fresh produce and listening to live music.

Uncle Dave Macon Days was born in this exact spot, and the Saturday Market, that's sponsored by Main Street Murfreesboro/Rutherford County, has exploded in popularity this year. To borrow a 60's phrase, it's become a "happening"!  Now, as you head toward the square on Main Street--you are greeted with heavy traffic reminiscent of the days when the only place for local retail was the uptown area.

By the way, the Saturday Market continues through October on the historic Murfreesboro town square. The hours are 8:00 in the morning until noon. And many retailers and restaurants in the historic district also welcome visitors with specials.  Also visit http://www.downtownmurfreesboro.com/market.htm
