School safety in Rutherford County a priority in new and existing school plans

School safety is a priority in the construction of new schools and current schools in Rutherford County. The layout and floor plans for each school in the county system is now in an online database for emergency personnel. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department and the County Commission are currently working together to set aside the funding to hire 13 new school resource officers. That number includes two new officers for Stewarts Creek High School in Smyrna that will open this August.
