Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department responded to yet another car fire around 2:00 Wednesday morning. This is the second car fire reported in the past couple of days. District 3 arrived at 1403 Eagle Street to find a 1974 Chevy Impala in flames. The crew quickly extinguished the fire.

Assistant Fire Marshal Carl Peas was called to the scene to investigate. Peas said the fire was intentionally set and the trunk, hood, and front windshield of the vehicle sustained damage. However, he noted that the damage was most likely less than $3,500.

As stated earlier, this is the second intentionally set car fire within two days time. Early Monday morning, Murfreesboro Fire District 8 responded to a 2008 Chevy Cobalt on fire at 2032 Empress Drive. “The gas tank was ‘wicked’ in this case and damage was mainly contained to the trunk of the vehicle,” said Peas.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating both fires, but they do not believe the two are related. No one was injured in either incident.
