Serious Auto Accident on I-24 - Three Siblings Injured, One Ejected

A serious auto accident involving three juveniles was reported on I-24 east at mile marker 101 in the Beech Grove area on the Rutherford / Coffee County line (vehicle came to a rest in the west bound lane after crashing). Sgt. Bill Miller with the Tennessee Highway Patrol told WGNS that one person was ejected from the vehicle and a second was trapped in the vehicle when Troopers arrived on the scene Monday evening. Sgt. Miller confirmed that all three occupants of the vehicle are siblings.

All three of the juveniles who were in the vehicle were flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. One had life threatening injuries, another had what were labeled as “Severe Injuries” and the third had only minor injuries.

Crash description: Vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-24 around the 101 mm. The vehicle swerved causing the driver to over correct the steering. The driver then lost control of the vehicle exiting I-24 from the left shoulder into the median. The vehicle then rolled through the median several times coming to an area of rest in the I-24 westbound lanes.
