Traffic was at a standstill with two crashes about a mile apart on Thompson Lane around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon (10/23/2012). The less serious was near the Stones River Bridge, while a motorcycle vs car accident was near Riverbend Five.

Murfreesboro Police Sergeant Kyle Evans told WGNS News, "Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services took the motorcyclist via ambulance to the Trauma Center at Vanderbilt."

By the time paramedics had the victim stabalized and in the ambulance, the helicopter had arrived at the scene and was hovering overhead.

The ambulance driver radioed to the chopper that the man was now talking and seemed alert. They indicated that he did not meet the criteria to be flown to the Nashville hospital.

Traffic along Thompson Lane was at a gridlock condition for over an hour while Murfreesboro Police made measurements, completed crash reports and cleared the roadway.
