A Shelbyville man was found guilty last week of 18 counts of aggravated rape of a child.

According to the Shelbyville Time-Gazette, Loreto Espinosa committed the offenses against the 2 and a 1/2-year-old child between May and August, investigators said.

A Circuit Court jury of seven men and five women deliberated for an hour before reaching the decision in the two-day trial before Judge Lee Russell. Sentencing is set for Aug. 16.

Detectives Carol Jean and Sam Jacobs of the Shelbyville Police Department investigated, with help from the Department of Children’s Services and Our Kids of Nashville.
