Nothing sucks like a vacuum cleaner theft.

Reports indicate a woman entered the JC Penny Store on Old Fort Parkway and stole a Red Shark Vacuum Cleaner. After stealing the vacuum, she fled in one of two cars seen leaving the area. Police wrote in a report that she was either in a gray Dodge Charger or a white SUV of some kind.

The woman was said to be in her mid-twenties and weighed about 130 pounds. She stands about 5 foot 5.

So far, she has not been caught.

Shoplifting costs companies $44 billion annually, according to a 2014 report by the National Trade Federation. Of course, a loss of that caliber hits the pocketbook of shoppers too.

During an unrelated theft in Murfreesboro two men entered the Electronic Express store, which is also on Old Fort Parkway, and stole a laptop computer. One of the two subjects put the computer under his shirt on Tuesday afternoon and fled the area on foot.

The duo has yet to be apprehended.
