Murfreesboro Police arrested a Siegel High School teacher on charges of solicitation of a minor for aggravated statutory rape. First year special education teacher Matthew Litton was booked on these charges at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

Rutherford County School's Public Information Officer James Evans released a statement saying that Litton had been on leave for more than a month on unrelated charges.

Evans noted that the teacher has now been placed on suspension without pay.

In addition to teaching special education students, Litton was also a football and wrestling coach at Siegel High.

According to police, a juvenile told officers that Milton had solicited sex at a local gym.

Evans responded that the juvenile was not a student at Siegel High School.

Matthew Litton is scheduled to appear in the Rutherford County Circuit Court on May 10, 2016. NewsRadio WGNS will keep you informed.
