Starting with this weekend's game between the Blue Raiders and Florida Atlantic, 30-year old Buster Faulkner will fill the position vacated quickly last Friday by Willie Simmons. Head Football Coach Rick Stockstill indicated that Faulkner's close relationship with the quarterbacks was the primary reason he put him in the position.

More on the sudden resignation of Willie Simmons. According to a "Murfreesboro Police Domestic Violence Report" filed over a week ago on Monday, October 10th, by Kayla Hockett. The 24-year old woman claims they got into an argument over a "text message" she found on his cell phone. According to the police report, the 2006 Miss MTSU reportedly asked Simmons to leave her Fortress Boulevard apartment on Sunday, October 9th. Hockett claims that Simmons refused and allegedly squeezed his hands around her neck and that for a few seconds she could not breathe.

Hockett reportedly was able to get away and fled to a friend's apartment in Nashville. That friend allegedly took a photo of the red abrasions on her neck as proof.

After the arrest, 31-year old Willie Simmons was freed from the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center after paying his $1,500 bale. A General Sessions Court hearing is set for November 17th.

As reported Friday (10/14/2011), Simmons resigned as offensive coordinator of the MTSU football team after being arrested for aggravated assault
