Beloved Coach Donnie Carter passed away Friday. The 69-year old Smyrna native suffered a brain injury from a serious fall in February.

In 1969 he formed Smyrna's first youth football league, which touched and shaped so many lives over the decades.

Family

Mr. Carter is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Cindy Carter; son, DJ Carter and his wife Michelle; grandchildren, Mac, Ty and Grace Carter; son, Lee Carter and his wife Meleah; grandchildren, Dylan and Dawson Carter; and son, Steve Carter and his wife Sasha; and grandchildren, Blaine and Cade Carter all of Smyrna, TN; and brother, Wayne Carter and his wife Lisa of Cleveland, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rose Carter.

Services

Visitation is 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon until 8:00 that evening at LifePoint Church

A second visitation will also be an hour before the services on Tuesday. Funeral Services will be 1:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at LifePoint Church in Smyrna with full military rites during the burial in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Woodfin Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
