Smyrna Man Arrested for Aggravated Robbery in Murfreesboro

A 26-year old Smyrna resident is facing aggravated robbery charges in Murfreesboro. Zebulun W. Byrd, who goes by the nickname of “Zeb,” allegedly robbed a woman at her East Vine Street residence. During the alleged hold-up, Byrd was reportedly armed with a pistol.

The police arrest report that WGNS obtained from the M-P-D, shows that the suspect stole $40 and a prescription of Oxycontin. Byrd was tracked down by police after the alleged robbery when detectives found a vehicle that matched the description of the get-away car. The subject was arrested on Ewing Street.

Byrd denied robbing the victim, but did suggest that he got into an altercation with her. He later told police that some of his initial statements given during questioning were FALSE. Byrd will appear in court on February 3, 2014.
