Smyrna man killed in auto accident Monday

A single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Murfreesboro Pike in Nashville claimed the life of a Smyrna, TN man. Deceased is 29 year old Joshua Abendroth.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the southbound driver of a 2001 Toyota Sequoia, for reasons unknown, lost control of the SUV and traveled across the northbound lanes of traffic before striking a utility pole. The Sequoia then rolled several times. Both the driver and his passenger were ejected from the vehicle. The other occupant of the SUV, Robert Merricks, 45, of Waterford Way, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Toxicology testing will be conducted on both occupants. The investigation continues to determine who was driving the SUV.

Josh Abendroth leaves behind three small children. A GoFundme account has been set up to help with family expenses. According to the account, Abendroth was without life insurance when he was killed.

He leaves behind a girlfriend Ashley and 3 daughters Carmen (9) and identical twins Kadence and Averi Grace (2).
