Smyrna & Oakland Girls Advance

The Smyrna and Oakland girls join Blackman and Riverdale in the district tournament semifinals.

The Smyrna girls forced Stewarts Creek to 20-turnovers and defeat the Lady Hawks 61-48. The Lady Bulldogs won both regular season games by two-points each time. Smyrna was led by Kesha Brady's 25 points. Brooklyn Blanchard chipped in 15. Briahah Ferby was Stewarts Creek's leading scorer with 16. Brandi Ferby added 10.

Oakland jumped out on top of Siegel early and punched a ticket to the district semifinals and region tournament with a 74-48 win.

The Lady Patriots led by 19 after the first quarter. They were led in scoring by Ansley Eubank's 15 points. Aaliyah Patterson had 14. For Siegel, Rachel Tracy and Correna Ellis had 10-points each.

Saturday will be a full day of tournament action. In the District 7AAA Tournament at Riverdale, the Blackman girls will battle Smyrna at 2pm. It's followed by Blackman boys versus Oakland at 3:30. Riverdale girls will take on Oakland girls at 5. The nightcap will be the Stewarts Creek and Siegel boys. Also, the Central Lady Tigers will travel to Cookeville to battle with Upperman in the 8-AA semifinals at 4pm.
