Smyrna Police received a tip from officers in Eau Claire, Wisconsin that they recently arrested William Ted Davis on privacy violations, and that he may have committed similar offenses in public restrooms in Smyrna.

Smyrna Detectives determined that Davis had computers containing photos and video footage from inside female bathrooms at the Volunteer Park on 8th Avenue in Smyrna.

Sergeant Bobby Gibson told NewsRadio WGNS that a sweep of those restrooms show there are currently no electronic recording devices in any of the Smyrna park system's restrooms.

Much Talk of the Incident:

The Smyrna Police Department, as expected, has received numerous inquiries concerning the William T. Davis investigation and many of those citizens have, understandably, been interested in the suspected time span of the surveillance recordings.

NewsRadio WGNS has learned that the evidence collected by Smyrna investigators has been delivered to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, so that their specialized computer forensics division can work towards finding the best definitive answer available.

Smyrna Police Sergeant Bobby Gibson notes, "There are several aspects to this investigation and the detective division is working to ensure all available evidence is obtained. Obviously, this type of criminal investigation is a priority for any law enforcement agency and our department will notify the citizens of updates, as it is prudent without compromising the prosecution of this case."

Gibson stressed, "Much of the information in this type of investigation is sensitive due to the subject matter; therefore, we ask our citizens to be patient as we move forward with it and that if citizens have either information to provide or further questions, that you contact Detective Allan Nabours at (615) 459-6644."

The spokesperson noted that the Smyrna Police Department is committed to the safety of its citizens and visitors. He urged everyone to be patient and understanding that Smyrna Police are committed to a full investigation of these criminal acts and pursuing full prosecution.
