Sam’s Wholesale Club evidently caught on to the theft in question… it was just a matter of time before the culprit was caught, but we use that word cautiously because an actual arrest has yet to be made.

The alleged theft accusations date back to October. Apparently the suspect has been visiting Sam’s on John Rice Blvd. and going through the self-checkout line, according to an employee at the store. The man is accused of scanning the barcode for less expensive merchandise and then walking out with pricey items saving as much as 85%. However, on the day he was supposedly caught, he was allowed to pay the difference of the item he was reportedly about to walk off with, so he could not be charged on the day a store employee called the police.

Sam’s claims they have the thefts on video and that they add up to over $1,000. Police spoke to the subject who admitted to taking “Some of the merchandise,” but did not say what he may have taken. The culprit actually called for his attorney to meet him at the store and speak with officers. Again, no charges have been filed and the case has been turned over to detectives.
