LaVergne Checkpoint News:
The La Vergne Police Department will be looking for drunk drivers in the city on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 through alcohol saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints.
Increased police patrols will be conducted from 11:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. The La Vergne Police Department will monitor traffic for signs of impaired driving within city limits and along Interstate 24. These saturation points will also focus on speeding, safety belt, and other road violations.
The checkpoints are scheduled for Murfreesboro Rd. near Dick Buchanan St. at 10:00 p.m. and Murfreesboro Rd. across from City Hall at 12:30 a.m.
The cost of the saturation patrols is covered through a Governor's Highway Office Safety grant. The grant funding pays for overtime of law enforcement officers to patrol the streets looking for drunk or impaired drivers.
