Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Sparta, TN Man Said He was Shot in Sparta and Drove to Murfreesboro

A man in Sparta, Tennessee told police in Murfreesboro that while breaking up a domestic violence fight in Sparta he was shot in the leg. The man told police that after being shot he decided to come to Murfreesboro to seek treatment for the gunshot wound because he did not want to be treated in Sparta. The man said he picked Murfreesboro to seek treatment because his sister lives here. Officers questioned the story and later found out that 30-year old Jimmy B. Henry was wanted on a Capias by police in Sparta. Officers in Murfreesboro quickly arrested Henry after he was treated at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
