Local nonprofit Special Kids announced Friday that its Special Kids Race is a sold out event for the second consecutive year. A total of 3,000 participants will walk or run in the March 23 race at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic on Garrison Drive in Murfreesboro.

The 2nd Annual Special Kids Race capped its 15K and 5K distances at a combined 2,500 participants and its One Mile Fun Run at 500 participants. Even with an increase of 700 spots from 2012, the race sold out two weeks earlier than its inaugural year. The 2012 event raised over $110,000 for children with special needs served at Special Kids. Because of the support from sponsors and the community, this year’s race is slated to bring in even more funds to help the nonprofit.
