Special Thanks to Boy Scout Troop 441 for Disposing of Weathered American Flags in Murfreesboro

WGNS would like to thank Murfreesboro Boy Scout Troop 441 for their help in properly disposing of American flags that are torn or weathered. Troop 441 meets at CrossWay Baptist Church on 231 South weekly. The flags the scouts dispose of are collected from listeners at WGNS daily and then picked up by the scouts at the end of the month.

According to US Flag Code TITLE 4 > CHAPTER 1 > Sec. 8(k):

"The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning"

If you have a flag that is no longer suitable to serve as the emblem of America and needs to be properly disposed of, drop it off at WGNS (306 S. Church St.).
