State Senator Bill Ketron (R-Murfreesboro) is one of the 15 persons selected to serve on MTSU committee studying whether to change the name of the Forrest Hall ROTC building. It was named after Civil War General Nathan Bedford Forrest, and the request has once again arisen to change the name. The committee had its first meeting Thursday, Nov. 13, 2015.

Ketron also addressed issues that will come before the 109th Tennessee General Assembly that will reconvene on January 12, 2016. Those issues included public transportation, what kind of taxes are needed to cover the costs of expanding as well as maintaining roads in the Volunteer State (the old gas tax is not generating sufficient funds, since cars are more energy efficient and many do not use any gasoline, but continue to use the public road.)

Bill also shared news of his one-year battle with cancer, and said it has definitely changed his perspective on how he looks at things. The state senator said he appreciates the many calls of encouragement and especially the prayers.
