A fugitive wanted for four years on multiple charges of child rape was apprehended and returned Thursday to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Fugitive Stephen Beck was charged with three counts of raping a child Sept. 10, 2010.
He was released on $1 million bond the same day, but failed to return to Circuit Court to answer the charges. Beck has been on the lam for four years.
The 43-year old Lebanon resident was also wanted for nine counts of rape of a child, 16 counts of rape and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in neighboring Wilson County.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation placed him on the Top 10 Most Wanted List July 25, 2011.
TBI developed information Beck was in Johnson City and later learned he was in Wilmington. The U.S. Marshal’s Task Force and TBI located Beck in May in Wilmington, N.C., where he was held until being picked up Thursday and returned to face charges in Rutherford and Wilson Counties. Beck faces additional charges of failure to appear in court and two counts of felony bail jumping.
Beck is scheduled to address the charges July 31 in Circuit Court. He is being held on a new $1 million bond in the Adult Detention Center.
