The Stewarts Creek Red Hawks win their home opener with John Overton 16-to-8. Up only 3-nothing after the first half, the Red Hawks Cynterius Lyons ran the second half opening kickoff to the Bobcat 20. That play set up a quarterback keeper by senior Chris Dye with 9:55 left in the third to extend the lead to 9-nothing. Lyons wasn't through, as just minutes later he picked off Overton quarterback Julius King...

Overton would score and converted the two-point play in the fourth to cut the Red Hawks 16-nothing lead in half. However, Stewarts Creek was able to keep the Bobcat offense off the field late and run out the clock for the win, to improve to 1-and-0 on the season.

Dye was 4-for-11 for 87-yards and an interception on the night. T.J. York had 59-yards receiving. The duo of Keyshawn Walker and Zach Long racked up over 100-yards on the ground. Stewarts Creek had 227 yards in total offense and held Overton to minus-5 yards rushing in the second half.

The Red Hawks travel just a few miles up the road to take on rival Smyrna next Friday night.
