The District 7-Triple-A basketball tournament got underway Wednesday at Siegel High School. WGNS' Bryan Barrett has a recap:
The seventh-seeded Stewarts Creek boys didn't win a regular season district game. However, they won their first game of the district tournament, upsetting #6 Riverdale 77-66. Red Hawks center Jy'lan Washington finished with 28 points. Riverdale was led in scoring by Brad Woodson's 21 points, including five threes. Riverdale's season ends at 14-and-15. Stewarts Creek will play #3 Blackman Friday night at 7:30.
BOYS GAME PODCAST with Rafferty Cleary:
Number six Stewarts Creek girls earned the season sweep of #7 La Vergne, with a 48-23 win. Brianah Ferby led both teams in scoring with 12. The Lady Wolvernines end the year 5-and-21.
