During the stop, police spoke to Michelle Glekiah and Jasmine McLean. The duo asked to use the bathroom while talking to police,. Officers allowed them to use a nearby bathroom, but once they left police decided to search the room. Inside the bathroom trashcan, police discovered credit cards and driver licenses. A police arrest report shows, "Ms. McLean admitted to discarding the cards and ID's."

Inside the car the women were in, police found a card skimmer. McLean claims that a man in Atlanta provided her with the fake driver's license and credit cards. She said the man told her to purchase 50 cartons of cigarettes and that they would be paid $400 for their purchases.

The vehicle, which was supposedly rented with fraudulent information, was impounded. The two women were then arrested and charged with criminal simulation and fraudulent use of a driver's license.
