Jim Lewis tells about the STONES RIVER NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD. On Saturday, August 13, 2016 (8AM-Noon), they host a historical presentation about the National Park Service and Stones River Battlefield at the historic First Presbyterian Church (corner of College and Spring Streets). This is all FREE, including a continental breakfast. Phone 615-893-9501 and let them know that you plan to attend.

On August 25, 2016, at 1:00PM there will be a FOUNDERS DAY CELEBRATION honoring the National Parks Service's 100th birthday. Come to the visitors center at Stones River Battlefield and enjoy birthday cake and learn more of the history of this organization.

In addition, this Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, is the next HALLOWED GROUND WALK at the cemetery at the Stones River Battlefield. The walk stops at grave markers where letters sent home from these soldiers are read. This moving event gives a better perspective of the mood of the Civil War. It too is FREE, but the group is limited to approximately 35 persons. You must make reservations by calling 615-893-9501.
