Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department's Engine 1 and Ladder 1 responded to a call at the Furniture Merchandise Outlet (FMO) located at 531 NW Broad Street around 5:15 Wednesday morning.

Police/Fire Dispatch received a burglar alarm and sent units to check it out.

When crews arrived on scene they discovered the front glass had blown out of the building.

According to Shift Commander Tim Swann, it appears that the roof took on so much water from last night's storms that the pressure was too much for the glass. "The same storm that damaged the Imperial Inn caused the water pressure from the roof to blow the front glass out of this building," Swann said.

City of Murfreesboro's Building and Codes Department and City Engineer Sam Huddleston are in route to assess the structural integrity of the building. Shift Commander Swann is in the process of getting MFRD's Tower truck to the scene for a better view of the damage at that location.

Swann believes the business will most likely be closed until further notice, but will not be able to confirm until damage assessment is complete.

No one was injured during this incident.
