Truck Fire

Around 10:00 o'clock Saturday night (2/21/2015) a tractor trailer truck was fully involved in fire at Pilot truck stop at 2441 South Church Street. At the same time, other units were on the other side of the interstate where power lines were down.

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Commander Dale Maynard told NewsRadio WGNS that the big rig was a total loss. He said that it was parked in the overnight parking lot at the truck stop and was not near any pumps.

Police closed inbound lanes South Church Street as a safety precaution.

Power Lines Down

Units from Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue were answering a call of power lines down at the Regal Inn (2025 S. Church St.) and could see the flames at the Pilot Truck Stop from there.

Reports indicated that lines were down. Once Murfreesboro Electric was on-the-scene, it was determined that S&W Electric needed to be called as they have a contract to handle utility poles.

Between electric line problems, many traffic crashes and the truck fire at the Pilot Truck Stop--this has been a busy night for emergency responders. NewRadio WGNS salutes them for their dedication to keeping our community safe.
