The man was not his grandson...

An elderly gentleman in Murfreesboro phoned the police after receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be his grandson. The victim says he got a phone call on Wednesday from someone who told them that he was actually his grandson and he was arrested on DUI charges. The subject on the phone told the 75-year old man that he needed $1,748 to bond out of jail. The fake grandson said he needed the money sent to his account oversees.

The grandfather, always willing to help, put the money into the requested account. The victim then made contact with his real grandson only to realize that he had been scammed. His grandson was not arrested on DUI charges and now the man is out nearly $2,000.
