Theft charges were filed Monday against a former Outpost Armory employee accused of stealing scopes, knives and accessories from his employer during the past six months, a Rutherford County Sheriff’s detective said.

Suspect Kyle E. Miller, 34, of Jim Cummins Highway near Bradyville, was charged with theft over $1,000 by Detective Steve Craig after a month-long investigation.

Miller allegedly stole the merchandise from the Buchanan Road store while he was employed at the business for the past six to eight months, the detective said. No firearms were stolen from the store. Miller has since been terminated.

“We were able to recover over $5,000 of the merchandise,” Detective Craig said.

The property will be returned to the store once the case is resolved in court.

Miller was charged and booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where he was released after posting $3,000 bond. A hearing is set Jan. 22 in General Sessions Court.
