We have an update on the man charged with 27 counts of "Sexual Exploitation of a Minor" in Murfreesboro. You may recall the case unfolded after 28-year old Matthew Hughes went on a blind date after meeting a woman on the website "Plenty of Fish (.com)" in 2013.

Tosha Rowland told us she met Hughes on the dating website after he read Rowland's online headline and sent her an email...

Rowland told us her night with Hughes started at a Nashville bar and then progressed to a Nashville hotel. It was at that hotel that Rowland said Hughes showed her his cell phone. Rowland told us what she saw on the phone.

Rowland eventually left the hotel room after performing a sexual act that she suggested she felt compelled to participate in just to end the evening and get Hughes out of the room. After leaving the hotel Rowland called the police in Nashville, but an arrest was not immediately made.

Nashville Police told Rowland to call Murfreesboro authorities because Hughes lives in Murfreesboro, which is where the cell phone was located.

After being arrested on numerous charges, Hughes ultimately plead guilty in a Rutherford County Courtroom. 22 of the original charges were dropped before the case was over.

The Murfreesboro man is now serving time under two counts of "Solicitation of a Minor" and two counts of "Sexual Exploitation of a Minor."

Hughes sentence will officially end in year 2026. He was sentenced to over 13-years behind bars.

MORE: During questioning at the Murfreesboro Police Department, Detective Tommy Roberts wrote, "Mr. Hughes admitted to having multiple images of child porn on his cell phone." A search warrant allowed Detective Roberts to look through his phone and a signed consent form allowed for the search of Hughes laptop compu ter.
