The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation continues to look into accusations of wrong doing by Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold. NewsRadio WGNS spoke to Josh Devine of the TBI Thursday morning and he told us, "Our case is active and ongoing."

While the TBI has not elaborated on details about the case, they have confirmed that no charges have been filed against the current Sheriff at this time.

In May of this year, the TBI and the FBI stormed through the Sheriff's Office on the New Salem Highway with search warrants in hand. The two organizations seized several boxes of files. They also went to two homes belonging to Joe Russell, the Chief Deputy of Administration and Finance and the home of Sheriff Arnold.

The case was initiated by Rutherford County District Attorney Jennings Jones in April when he asked the TBI to investigate Arnold and Russell in connections with JailCigs, a Georgia company that is owned by Sheriff Arnold's aunt and uncle. Past reports showed that JailCigs were once sold exclusively in the local jail.

Again, the TBI confirmed on Thursday (12/3/15) that their case into the Sheriff is "Active and ongoing."
