Almost one in ten teenagers are smoking marijuana, according to the Partnership at Drugfree.org. The survey suggests that some teens smoked marijuana up to 20-times per month. The use of marijuana has increased by 27% in the past year.
Some good news on the report that was released on Wednesday, the abuse of prescription drugs may be less prevalent than in years past for children ages 9 through 12.
In other findings on the survey, Fifty-two percent of Hispanic youth report using illicit drugs in the past year (vs. 42 percent for African-American youth and 40 percent for Caucasian teens). Hispanic teens are also more likely than other teens to have used prescription medicine, Ecstasy or cocaine/crack to get high.
