An 81 year old Murfreesboro woman fell victim to a scam over the phone not once, but twice. Evidently, both scams are related.
Earlier this year, the victim received a phone call about a special grant. The person on the other end of the line told the elderly victim that she was going to receive a grant, but needed to first pay "Straight Business Solutions" of New Jersey $1,700. After making the payment, she never received the promised grant.
Then, this September the victim received a call from a woman claiming to be with a company called "Onpoint Resource Group" in Arizona. The subject told the victim that she could recoup her lost money for a fee of $2,000. Without missing a beat, the one time victim became a two time victim.
At this point, the woman is out $3,700 and police have little to go by. So far, no arrests have been made and no money has been recouped.
