The Farmers Market this week in Murfreesboro

The Rutherford County Farmers' Market is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 7 a.m. to noon at the Lane Agri-Park Community Center, 315 John R. Rice Blvd, Murfreesboro. As always, it is a producer only market.

Here are the free weekly classes at the Farmer's Market for the upcoming week:

Aug 11th

"Warm Up to Gardening" is the topic on Tuesday, Aug 11th. The class is presented by Certified Master gardeners Jennifer Joines and Brenda Davis. Exercises and stretches to avoid injury in the garden or with yard chores will be presented. Try to alleviate the common gardenr's aches and pains. This Rutherford County Farmer's Market class is free and begins at 9 a.m. in the Lane Agri-Park Community Center, located at 315 John R. Rice Blvd.

Aug 14th

On Friday, August 14th, the topic is "Quilts of Valor" with The Quilting Bees of Murfreesboro. The Quilts of Valor is a non-profit organization that makes quilts for wounded soldiers. Stop by and sew a precut block or observe and sign one that has been premade. This event is free and is from 9 a.m.to noon in the Lane Agri-Park Community Center, located at 315 John R. Rice Blvd.

New to the Farmer's Market is the ongoing demonstration program called, "Farmers' Market Fresh." Sisters June Holt and Marlena Gregory prepare a dish and offer samples from one of the in season fruit or vegetables. They are hoping to work with cucumbers and melons next week. The recipe for the dish will be provided as well as other literature on preserving food. This booth will be open about 9 a.m. to noon on both Tues and Fri.
