The old fashioned “Quick Change Scam” is still alive and strong in Murfreesboro. A man recently pulled the scam on a cashier at Target on Old Fort Parkway.

The scam is done by a con artist who purchases a small item with a large bill and confuses the clerk by repeatedly asking for different amounts of change. It often happens so fast that the victim behind the counter fails to realize what just occurred until the suspect is gone.

In the case at Target, the subject purchased a $3 item and paid for it with a $100 bill. He then confused the clerk by asking for change over and over again which resulted in a cash register loss of $350. The entire incident was caught on camera. Store employees now know what the culprit looks like and will call the police if he shows up for another scam.
