Local nonprofit Special Kids will celebrate its 15th year of hosting the Special Kids Golf Classic on Thursday, May 8, at Indian Hills Golf Course in Murfreesboro.

Since beginning in 2000, the annual 4-person golf scramble has collectively raised over $300,000 for the organization. The fundraising tournament has been held at Indian Hills Golf Course since its first year and will continue that tradition again in 2014.

“Indian Hills Golf Course holds a special place in our hearts in our partnership with the Special Kids organization over the past 15 years,” said Jim McElyea, General Manager at Indian Hills Golf Course. “We have been blessed to witness what Special Kids has done with so many lives including ours.”

This year’s golf classic is proud to be presented by Nissan for the fourth consecutive year. Employees from Nissan will join other participants in a four-person scramble to compete for prizes from Indian Hills and other local businesses. Players will also receive a bar-b-q lunch provided by Slick Pig and the option to play in the morning or afternoon tournament.

“Special Kids is so thankful to be celebrating our 15th year of the tournament,” said Chris Truelove, Special Kids Executive Director. “The community’s support through the event has helped us to continue serving children in need in middle Tennessee. With the new Special Kids rehab facility under construction, we know that the Lord will be sending more children who need His care.”
