The Worlds Largest Square Dance to be held in Murfreesboro July 7th

New for 2016 Uncle Dave Macon Days, July 7-9 is an event that will certainly thrill young and old alike--the attempt to break the Guinness record for the World's Largest Square Dance.

The high-energy, rollicking sounds of the Hog Slop String Band will lead the attempt for the World's Largest Square Dance. According to the Nashville Scene, "Hog Slop String Band is the finest Square Dance Band on the planet."

On the evening of July 7th, at 6pm, a true Tennessee favorite will be introduced on the Public Square in Murfreesboro, Tennessee with Marcia Campbell from Grand Ole Opry Dancers and WSM650. According to the State of Tennessee, the square dance is the official dance of Tennessee, but the record for the World's Largest Square Dance is now held in Illinois. This free event drawing thousands will kick-off the opening day event for Uncle Dave Macon Days 2016 back to the Square where Uncle Dave Macon Days began nearly 40 years ago.

There will be a Community-Wide Square Dance Rehearsal, Sunday afternoon, May 15th 2pm at the Rutherford County Courthouse Inner Circle.
