Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Districts 5, 7, and 9 responded to a house fire at 3458 Hardwood Drive just before 1:30 Thursday morning.

When crews arrived on scene, light smoke was exiting the structure. They discovered fire in the master bathroom/bedroom area of the home.

According to Shift Commander Daryl Alexander, the fire seems to have started underneath the floor of the master bathroom. “The cause of the fire is unknown; however, the point of origin makes it appear as if a lightning strike was a possibility,” said Alexander.

Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and contain damage to the affected area of the home. One resident was displaced, but did not require assistance from the American Red Cross.
