Veterans Memorial Park may soon be overrun with little Elsa and Anna lookalikes, ninja turtles, and the walking dead as the annual candy trail returns to La Vergne. Thousands of children are expected to walk the "Trail of Treats" on Saturday, October 25 between 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. The annual event is free and includes a hayride, games, and a hike through the park to "trick or treat" from local organizations and businesses.

"Depending on the weather, we have between 1,000 and 3,000 children who attend this Halloween event," said A.C. Davis, Parks & Recreation Director. "We encourage children and adults to dress up for the Trail of Treats because it adds a lot of fun to the day."

Local businesses and organizations that sign up to participate in the program decorate their booths with a family-friendly Halloween theme. They hand out everything from candy to goo-goo clusters and often have games set up for children to play.

"This is one of our most popular events every year and a wonderful way for people who live and play in La Vergne to come together as a community," said Mayor Senna Mosley. "We very much appreciate the organizations and businesses that make it so nice for our families."

The entire event is free to the public. For information about signing up to hand out candy, contact Parks & Rec at (615) 793-3224.
