More and more local residents are getting involved in local political races. With that being said, we have confirmed another new name in the race for the Rutherford County Commission.

Small business owner, JoAnne Skidmore plans to announce during a rally next Monday, September, 30th at an event hosted by Griffin Strategies held at the Rutherford County Republican Party headquarters, that she will seek election to the 15th District Commissioner seat on the Rutherford County Commission in the 2014 Republican primary.

Adam Coggin, who announced earlier this year he would vacate his commissioner position to be a candidate in the Republican primary for the Tennessee State House of Representatives in the 48th District, currently represents district 15.

“I look forward to utilizing my business experience to ensure our county remains solvent, prosperous and able to meet the needs of the residents of Rutherford County within our means,” Skidmore said.  “I sincerely feel there is need for more conservative women in government,” She said.

Skidmore is self-employed and consults small businesses with an emphasis on physicians and medical practices.
