State Senator Jim Tracy will not be a candidate for United States Congress. He, along with Diane Black and LouAnn Zelenick had a hotly contested battle to replace Bart Gordon in the 6th District in 2010. However, with redistricting, Rutherford County will now be in the 4th District. Tracy, who will have a new state senate district, says he's running for re-election in the new District 14th. He adds "in making this decision, I do want to thank those who have called or sent notes regarding the congressional district.  I am very thankful and humbled for the tremendous support I have received throughout Middle Tennessee both in 2010 and now.”

Republican Congressman Scott DesJarlais will pick up Rutherford County and will be running for re-election after being selected by voters in 2010. Rutherford County State Senator Bill Ketron says he's considering a run against DesJarlais, but has not made a final decision. Zelenik said she is still weighing her options on another run.
