Trailer Rig Slams Into Rear of Bus Wednesday on I-24

Around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, traffic in a construction zone near the Joe B. Jackson Parkway on I-24 west bound (toward Nashville) came to a hault. Officials report that a a tractor trailer rig slammed into the rear of a Greyhound Megabus.

There were 16 persons on the bus, and six were transported to the ER at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Two of those were reportedly pregnant. The remaining passengers did not require treatment. The bus driver sustained minor leg injuries, and passengers say his professional manners kept everyone calm. The bus was traveling from Atlanta to Nashville.  

 

Six people were taken to MTMC after the crash, which occurred in the westbound lanes of I-24 between miles markers 86 and 87. The crash happened about 2:30pm. One westbound lane was opened an hour later. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
