Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Two Men Accused of Breaking Into Home

A Murfreesboro homeowner was surprised to find an unknown car parked next to her home with two unknown men next to it on Sunday. The homeowner apparently drove up to a burglary in progress at her home on Sulpher Springs Road. A police incident report shows that the woman witnessed the two men flee from her house and she gave chase. Police got involved and were able to pull the two men over on John Rice Boulevard. When the homeowner returned to her house it was realized that the two men were in the process of stealing her 70-inch television and her 57-inch TV when she arrived home. The men also took her X-box. The two men were arrested and taken to jail to face burglary charges.
