The two teens that stopped to help a missing 4-year old boy in October have been recognized by the LaVergne Police Department. 18-Year old Humberto Orneles and his 14-year old sister Cynthia, were driving near Hectare Lane in LaVergne when they saw the young boy wandering down the street. They stopped to ask the child if he knew where his home was. The two teens then took the child to a nearby fire station where the police were called. About 8-hours later the child’s parents were located.

Apparently the child slipped out of a carpool van during a stop while on the way to his preschool. The driver did not realize the child had gotten out of the van and the parents did not become aware of their son missing until the school day was over and it was time for him to be picked up.

The Orneles received the Chief’s Citizens Service Award.
