Just six months after opening its doors, UFIT Personal Training has announced the addition of two MTSU alumnae to its fitness team.

"Our studio is growing quickly, and we're proud to have two accomplished young professionals join our staff," UFIT owner Wes Robinson said.

Siobhan Morales, MS, ACSM, CSCS, and Hailie Cochran, CEP, draw from their individual backgrounds while working with clients one-on-one and in small group fitness classes.

Morales has an undergraduate degree in exercise science and earned her master's degree from MTSU in 2015.

Originally from Trinidad, she received a soccer scholarship that allowed her to study in the United States. As a former college athlete, Morales said the transition to physical therapy was smooth.

"I have the character and personality for helping people get healthy," she said, adding that fitness was a natural part of her childhood. "My father always wanted me to be an indoor child, but I was always outside playing with cricket and (soccer) with the boys."

Morales calls her clients "family" and enjoys their regular conversations almost as much as she enjoys training them.

"It's not about me; it's about giving that person the best experience," she said. "They say, 'I want to lose weight,' but I always tell people, 'Working out is not to look like someone else. It's to produce the best you.' When you train, you're doing that for you."

While Morales and Cochran come from very different backgrounds, they both have a desire to help others.

Cochran graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science from MTSU in 2014 and has continued working at the university as a research assistant aiming to further the advancement of underwater therapy (specifically those dealing with spinal cord injuries).

The Jackson, Tenn.-native said she's always enjoyed helping others, and health and wellness was a natural fit for her.

"The more I learned, the more I realized I wanted to be on the proactive side, rather than working on problems after they happen," she said. "The focus is on getting people healthy."

Cochran explained how she watches her clients' progress week after week through strength gains, better balance, and weight loss. But she's most proud when clients become more confident in themselves and in their abilities.

"At UFIT, you're not just working with a trainer and lifting some weights," she said. "You're working with people who can understand where you're coming from, tell you what's going on, and guide you toward reaching attainable goals."
