Unemployment 5.3% In Rutherford County

  Email   Print

Reports from the state show Rutherford County's unemployment rate dropped to only 5.3 per cent of the workforce without a job.

Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Economic Development Brian Hercules says the improving economy doesn't stop with jobs. December also brought requests for 124 new business licenses and 61 corporations formed here that month.

Retail sales were up significantly in December, when compared to the previous year--thus Rutherford County will continue to enjoy a growth in sales tax revenue that is distributed by the state.
