A Murfreesboro woman told police that she was raped several days ago by an unknown culprit. The victim told officers that she was physically attacked while walking down Sevier Street. The woman was attacked outside of a small apartment complex. Although the police were not contacted until Sunday (7/14/13), the rape was said to have occurred on Friday (7/12/13).

Sevier Street is an area that has been plagued with crime over the years. WGNS has seen numerous reports of a variety of crime in the Sevier Street area over the past several years in Murfreesboro.

WGNS will not release the name of the victim, even if an arrest is made. We will however release the name of the suspect, as soon as he is arrested and charged accordingly. At this point, an arrest has not been made.

The subject is described as a light skinned black male standing about six feet tall. He was of medium build.  We will continue to follow this story.

In an unrelated story, a second rape was reported by a woman who knew her attacker. In that case, an arrest is said to be pending.
