WGNS has more information on the 40th annual Air Race Classic. Pilots will make stops in Murfreesboro on June 23rd (Thursday) and Friday the 24th. The landings will be between 8:30 in the morning and 1 each of the two afternoons at the Murfreesboro Airport.

Considered the only women's race in the U.S., a competitive field will be descending upon Murfreesboro Thursday morning following an overnight stay in the Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, area June 22 after thunderstorms halted their progress. In two days' time, 50 planes will execute high-speed flybys over a timing line at Murfreesboro Airport as teams race the clock on a four-day, 2,716-mile course from Prescott, Arizona, to Daytona Beach, Florida. The 40th annual event honors collegiate aviation programs across the nation, including MTSU aerospace.
